About creating a film for our window sills
The surface of the film used window sills consists of an impregnation, a base coat and a top coat. The layers are applied sequentially to the substrate and hardened with an electron beam using a patented manufacturing process.
Here we will take a close look at a step in this process called EBC.
EBC (Edge Bonded Combi) technology creates materials with unique characteristics such as high strength, scratch and abrasion resistance, and durability. In the context of glossy surfaces, EBC technology is used to create surfaces with a consistent glossy finish that perfectly maintains its appearance and quality over a long period of time.
EBC technology is an innovative approach to creating high quality materials such as laminate boards and surfaces. This technology has been developed to improve the strength, resistance and durability of materials by using a special method of gluing different layers together.
An important aspect of EBC is the process of bonding the layers of material. In different fabrications, these layers can be of different types, including wood particles, fiberglass, or other materials. Gluing involves the following steps:
- Selection of the materials: Different layers of material are selected based on their characteristics and functionality in the final product. For example, for glossy surfaces, layers of wood particles reinforced with special resins may be used.
- Preparation of layers: Each layer of material is treated and prepared for the gluing process. This may include the application of special coatings or resins to improve adhesion.
- Gluing: The prepared layers of material are glued together. One of the key aspects of EBC technology is the use of special adhesives or resins that provide a strong and secure bond between the layers.
- Pressing and hardening: The glued layers are subjected to a pressing and hardening process. This may involve the application of high pressure and temperature to achieve structural changes in the material that improve its properties.
- Finishing: After the gluing and hardening process is complete, the material may be subjected to additional finishes such as sanding or protective coatings.
